VISAKHAPATNAM, INDIA: South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock made history in the third and final ODI against India on Saturday at Visakhapatnam, as he smashed a blistering 100 off 80 balls.
This century marked his 7th century against India in 23 matches, equalling the record set by Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya for the most ODI centuries against the Men in Blue.
However, despite De Kock’s superb knock, South Africa lost the match by 9 wickets, and India clinched the series 2-1. With his clean ball-striking ability, de Kock played a knock of 106 runs from 89 deliveries.
De Kock’s achievement was met with appreciation from Virat Kohli, who applauded the South African for his brilliant innings.
Kohli, who himself has scored two centuries in the ongoing series, but waited his turn before the match was wrapped up.

The 32-year-old reached the milestone more quickly, achieving it in just 23 innings, while former Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya took 85 innings to do so.
His knock also helped him surpassing Kumar Sangakkara for most ODI hundreds by a designated wicketkeeper.
