DOHA: Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar, who also serves as foreign minister of the state, arrived in Ukraine today (Friday), according to the ministry.
He will discuss “important issues” with Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, according to the foreign ministry’s statement on Twitter.
“During the meetings in Kyiv, the prime minister will reiterate Qatar’s stance that calls for respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty and the security of its lands within the internationally recognized borders, as well as abiding by the United Nations Charter and the established principles of international law,” said the foreign ministry’s spokesperson, Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari.

He further said that the PM’s visit comes as part of the country’s efforts to de-escalate the war in Ukraine and address the resulting humanitarian crisis.
Al-Thani will reiterate Qatar’s backing of international efforts aimed at extending the grain deal during his meetings with Ukraine’s PM and foreign minister, Al-Ansari further said and added he will explore ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields and review Qatar’s “developmental efforts” in Ukraine.
