DUBAI: Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said on Thursday said “collective genocide” is happening in the Middle East and that his country has always warned of Israel’s “impunity.”

“It has become crystal clear that what is happening is genocide, in addition to turning the Gaza Strip into an area unfit for human habitation, in preparation for displacement,” he said while addressing the Asia Cooperation Dialogue summit in Doha.

He strongly condemned Israeli air strikes and military operations against Lebanon.

According to Gaza health authorities Israel’s 363-day genocidal war on the Palestinian territory has so far killed 41,788 Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Israel’s bombardment across Lebanon since October 2023 has killed 1,928 people and displaced 1.2 million people.

Hezbollah has reported that it had detonated explosives targeting advancing Israeli forces near the town of Maroun al-Ras. The Lebanese group claimed responsibility for repelling an attempted advance by Israeli troops at a border point known as Fatima’s Gate, asserting that its artillery fire effectively thwarted the incursion.

On Wednesday, Israel reported the deaths of eight of its soldiers in confrontations with Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.
