RIYADH: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s significant efforts in hosting the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit, highlighting its crucial timing in addressing the pressing issues in the region, particularly the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

Amir Sheikh Tamim expressed deep concern about the situation in Gaza, emphasizing the dangers posed at all levels. He condemned the aggressive wars and bombings targeting hospitals in Gaza. He raised alarm over a troubling precedent set by the bombings, initially denied and later justified based on the existence of tunnels underneath.

During his address, Sheikh Tamim pointed out the rise in voices from certain countries claiming to uphold international law and the global system, condemning the indiscriminate killing of Palestinian civilians, including children and women. He lamented the bombing of hospitals and shelters, where even the lifeless bodies of innocent individuals were left untouched, reflecting a heartbreaking disregard for human life.

Qatar’s Amir Reaffirms Historical Position in Supporting Palestinians

Reaffirming Qatar’s historical position in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people and their just cause, Sheikh Tamim emphasized the nation’s commitment, along with its regional and international partners, to providing humanitarian aid despite continuous Israeli obstruction. He called for the permanent opening of safe humanitarian crossings to ensure the speedy delivery of aid to those in need without any obstacles or conditions.

The Amir underscored that the only sustainable solution to the issue lies in establishing justice based on international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative, and principles advocated by the international community. This solution, he stated, upholds the right of the Palestinian people to enjoy prosperity, security, and the ability to determine their destiny in an independent state.
