DOHA: Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has said that Israel deliberately chose to expand its “aggression” to implement pre-planned schemes in Lebanon and the West Bank.

According to Reuters news agency, Israel had done so as it sees that the scope for that is available,” Qatar Emir said in his annual speech to open the Shoura Council.

The Shoura Council has legislative authority and also approves general state policies and the country’s budget, but has no say in the setting of security, defense, economic and investment policy for the wealthy gas producer.

Qatar’s Emir further said that amendments to Qatar’s constitution will be suggested by the Shoura Council and put to a popular referendum vote.
