DOHA: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the emir of Qatar, on Thursday discussed developments in Palestine and Syria in a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
They also discussed ties between their two countries and ways to enhance them, during a meeting in Doha, the Qatar News Agency reported.
The two sides also discussed key regional and international updates, particularly the developments in the Gaza Strip, occupied Palestinian territories, and Syria.
High-level discussions between Türkiye and Qatar have laid the groundwork for the upcoming 11th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar High Strategic Committee, scheduled to be held later this year in Doha.
The committee, co-chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, remains a cornerstone of the bilateral relationship, having facilitated over 100 agreements across a wide range of sectors since its inception.
On August 13, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss pressing regional issues, with a particular focus on the escalating conflict in Gaza.
The talks highlighted Qatar’s ongoing mediation efforts—conducted in coordination with Egypt and the United States—to broker a ceasefire and promote a two-state solution for Palestine. Minister Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for these efforts and expressed Ankara’s willingness to contribute to meaningful steps toward peace.
