DOHA:  Qatar has said that the latest Israeli attack on Rafah could hamper mediation efforts to reach a truce and an exchange agreement for Palestinian detainees and Israeli hostages. This was stated by Qatar’s Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday. The development comes as Gaza health ministry said that around 40 people were killed and dozens injured in an Israeli strike on a center for displaced people near the Rafah city of the besieged Palestinian territory.

The Gazan ministry in a statement said that Israeli strikes claimed the lives of 40 Palestinians and left dozens injured, mostly children and women. The strike has triggered global outcry, leading to calls for a truce.  According to Arab media, Israel’s top military prosecutor has described the Rafah strike as “very grave” and stated a probe is under way.

Gaza Health Ministry said that more than 35,984 Palestinian people have been killed and over 80,643 people have been injured in Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7.
