RIYADH: The foreign ministers of Bahrain and Qatar met in Riyadh on Wednesday to set procedures for bilateral talks, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

During the meeting, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani explored the procedures and “necessary mechanisms to launch discussions at the level of bilateral committees,” the BNA statement added.

Foreign ministers discuss revival of talks

Discussions on reviving bilateral talks came under the Al-Ula Declaration, issued last year during the Al-Ula GCC Summit in Saudi Arabia, to end the dispute with Qatar and re-unite the Gulf countries in the face of regional challenges.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers reiterated the significance of boosting cooperation to support the joint action of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and achieve security and prosperity.
