ISTANBUL: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday discussed the Black Sea Grain Deal, and regional and bilateral issues during a telephone conversation.
During the telephone conversation, Erdogan appreciated Putin for his “positive stance” to extend the Black Sea grain deal to facilitate Ukraine’s grain export.
According to the Turkish Communications Directorate, the Russian and Turkish presidents also discussed the recent developments in the grain deal.
The landmark Black Sea grain signed in Istanbul by the US, Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey was about to expire on November 18. 2022; however, yesterday, days before the scheduled expiry of the deal, Russia agreed to extend the deal for another four months, beginning November 19, 2022.
Erdogan Welcomes Putin’s Suggestion to Establish Gas Market in Turkey
During the telephone conversation, the Turkish president also welcomed his Russian counterpart’s suggestion to establish a natural gas market in Turkey.
Ergodan said that very soon legal and technical teams would analyze the suggestion to implement the plan.
While discussing the conflict in Ukraine, Erdogan told Putin to revive diplomatic efforts as prolonging the war will further increase the dangers. – APP/AFP
