SEOUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation from Kim Jong Un to visit North Korea, official news agency KCNA reported on Thursday. As per the media reports, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un invited the Russian President to visit North Korea.
Putin Accepts Kim’s Invitation to Visit North Korea
KCNA reported that at the end of the talks between the two leaders in Russia, Kim Jong Un invited President Putin to visit South Korea at an appropriate time.
It added that the Russian leader accepted the invitation with pleasure and reiterated his will to consistently carry forward the history and tradition of the Russia-North Korea friendship.
Earlier, Kim Jong Un said he was confident Moscow would win a “great victory” over its enemies during a high-profile banquet with Putin. US officials and experts have warned that Moscow is interested in buying North Korean ammunition to use in its war against Ukraine — an arms agreement that would defy global sanctions on Moscow.

Similarly, the U.S. State Department said on Wednesday that the U.S. would not hesitate to impose more sanctions on North Korea and Russia if they conclude any new arms agreements.
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed these remarks at a briefing in response to questions regarding the meeting in Russia between President Putin and Kim Jong Un.
Miller stated that the US has taken several actions to sanction organizations that brokered weapons sales between Russia and North Korea and would not hesitate to impose new sanctions if suitable. He added that it was troubling that North Korea and Russia are discussing cooperation that could violate UNSC resolutions.
“When you see what looks to be larger cooperation and possibly military transfers, that is quite troubling and would possibly be in violation of several UNSC resolutions,” Miller further said.
