LAHORE: At least 11 new cases of the dengue virus were reported in the in the provincial capital of Punjab, as confirmed by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Saturday.
Health Department officials said that along with the dengue cases, 1,030 larvae cases were also recorded within the past 24 hours.
Numerous patients are presently receiving treatment at different hospitals throughout the city, said Health Department sources. To prevent spread of the dengue, multiple anti-dengue teams conducted comprehensive surveillance both indoors and outdoors to identify dengue larvae.
Anti-Dengue Drive in the City
Simultaneously, the anti-dengue squads diligently targeted and eliminated dengue larvae at 1030 sites across the province as part of their continuous surveillance efforts.
The Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department sources informed that, on Saturday, Lahore witnessed the confirmation of 11 dengue cases. This included four cases from Allama Iqbal Town, three from Cantt Area, two from Gulberg Town, and one each from Nishtar and Wahga Town areas.
In the wake of increased dengue cases following rainfall, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore Rafia Haider has been making unannounced visits to assess the performance of dengue teams on the ground. Her recent inspection took place in the Shalimar and Cantt areas, where she underscored the importance of checking more than 5000 locations daily.
