LAHORE: In a joint effort with the World Bank (WB), the Punjab caretaker government has embarked on an initiative to digitise the urban land records of Punjab, local media reported.

According to local media, the Punjab Urban Land System Enhancement Project (PULSE) aims to modernize the existing land records system, providing simpler access to comprehensive land information with a single click. The outdated ‘khewat’ system would be replaced by a more efficient ‘parcel’ system.

The Punjab Board of Revenue, in partnership with the WB, has digitised over 90% of the rural land records in Punjab. With this milestone achieved, the focus has shifted to digitising urban land records. This includes GIS mapping of all lands in the province and creating computerized certified maps.

PULSE has organized a consultative workshop chaired by DG PLRA Saira Umar to explain the project and its implementation in detail.

The workshop saw the participation of Project Director Asim Saleem, Project Coordinator Faizalul Hasan, relevant government departments, development authorities, leading NGOs, and real estate developers.
