LAHORE: Pakistan’s Punjab province reported 24 new dengue cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the province this year to 15,102, said Health Department on Wednesday.
Lahore remains the most heavily affected, leading with 6,976 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 2,654 cases, Gujranwala with 1,590, Multan with 1,453, and Faisalabad with 914 cases. Lahore recorded 10 new cases, while Gujranwala five, and Multan reported six new cases. Kasur, Gujrat, and Rahimyar Khan each reported one new case of dengue in the last 24 hours.
Currently, 17 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with eight of them in Lahore district hospitals.
Punjab Health Secretary Ali Jaan Khan appealed to citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings as a preventive measure against dengue fever. He also called for cooperation with Health Department teams working to combat the outbreak.
