Punjab Govt to Introduce ‘Chief Minister Insulin for All’ Program

LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced to launch of the “Chief Minister Insulin for All” Program soon. This initiative was approved during a special session led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Basic Health Units (BHUs) are being upgraded to Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics to provide enhanced healthcare services in remote areas. Approval has also been granted for the establishment of health labs in hospitals located in Mianwali, Jhelum, Jhang, Layyah, and Attock. Children with Type-1 diabetes will receive insulin delivered to their homes, and special cards will be issued to ensure insulin availability for these young patients.

Government-approved suppliers, including Coldchain, will provide insulin in accordance with standard operating procedures. The pilot phase of the Chief Minister Insulin for All initiative will begin in three districts, including Lahore.

Type-1 diabetes patients can apply for the program via an app or a helpline. The session was attended by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, MPA Sania Ashiq, Principal Secretary, Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazeer, Health Advisor Dr. Azhar Kiyani, and officials from the Health and Finance Departments.
