LAHORE: Pakistan’s Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Friday urged the international community to intervene and put an end to the Indian army’s brutal actions against innocent Kashmiris.
Speaking at a ceremony commemorating Kashmir’s Black Day held at the Alhamra Hall in Lahore, the Governor emphasized that a lasting peace in the subcontinent is contingent on resolving the longstanding Kashmir issue.
Governor Rehman called on the global community to prioritize just solutions for both the Kashmir and Palestine issues to ensure a secure future for the world.
Kashmir Black Day is observed to condemn the illegal occupation of Kashmir by Indian forces on October 27, 1947. The ceremony was organized by the Punjab Information and Culture Department.

Governor Rehman inaugurated a photo exhibition at the Alhamra Art Gallery and led a rally to mark the significance of Black Day. He highlighted that the people of Pakistan, along with Kashmiris worldwide, observe Kashmir Black Day to protest against India’s invasion and occupation of Jammu & Kashmir in 1947. The day’s purpose is to draw the attention of the international community to the Indian occupation and the oppression of Kashmiris, advocating for their right to self-determination.
Governor Rehman underscored the collective protest against Indian armed aggression, sending a clear message to the world that India’s actions have disrupted peace in the subcontinent. He emphasized that achieving lasting peace in the region necessitates the resolution of the Kashmir issue and called for the United Nations and the international community to play an active role in this regard.
Punjab Governor Calls for Ceasefire in Palestine
The Governor expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in Palestine, where civilians, including children and women, are being targeted, and even hospitals are being bombed.
He urged world powers to facilitate a ceasefire in Palestine and emphasized the importance of implementing UN resolutions regarding the Kashmir issue. Governor Rehman emphasized that this issue is not merely a geographical dispute but a matter of South Asia’s future, which must not be overlooked.
Governor Balighur Rehman thanked the participants in the protest rally, reaffirming the government’s and the nation’s unwavering support for the oppressed Kashmiris residing in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan remains committed to standing with the oppressed Kashmiris, offering human, moral, and diplomatic support.
