LAHORE: The Punjab education board has revised its passing marks policy for practical exams, stating that students scoring 33% or higher in their theory exams will automatically be considered to have passed the examination.

After the 2023 annual review, the Punjab education board’s policy will go into effect. The policy has yet to be officially endorsed, though.

Before this, even students who did well on their theory tests needed to pass their practical exams to graduate. Even if they did well on their theoretical examinations, they had to retake both the theory and practical exams if they failed the practical.

Official sources said the decision was made following research by the Punjab education boards. The new strategy is anticipated to lighten the load on students because they won’t have to worry about failing their practical tests even if they did well in their theory exams.

Since it offers greater flexibility regarding exam results, the revised policy will likely be well-received by students across the province. Additionally, it is anticipated to motivate more students to enrol in practical courses and improve their performance on theory exams.
