LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) commitment to providing shelter to the underprivileged segments of society, reiterating that it remains a cornerstone of the party’s manifesto. Presiding over a meeting in Lahore on Tuesday regarding the ‘Apni Chaat Apna Ghar’ project, the Chief Minister emphasized the imperative of delivering on this promise without delay.
During the session, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called for the development of a comprehensive plan to actualize the announcement of constructing one hundred thousand houses, aimed at addressing the housing needs of low-income individuals and families across Punjab. In a concerted effort to realize this ambitious initiative, it was decided that over three thousand houses would be erected for low-income citizens in each district of the province.
To ensure the effective implementation of the project, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite the construction process, emphasizing the completion of model houses within six weeks. Furthermore, directives were issued to keep the down payment and subsequent monthly installments at an affordable level, thereby facilitating broader accessibility for prospective homeowners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
In addition to affordability, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif underscored the paramount importance of upholding construction standards and ensuring the sustainability of the housing units. Emphasizing quality and durability, she urged officials to adhere to rigorous standards in the construction process, thereby guaranteeing that the houses provide long-term, safe, and comfortable accommodation for their occupants.
The ‘Apni Chaat Apna Ghar’ project represents a significant step towards realizing the PML-N’s vision of inclusive development and social welfare, aimed at uplifting marginalized communities and enhancing their quality of life.
