ISLAMABAD: Punjab Assembly is likely to meet on February 29 to swear in newly elected members after the general elections.
According to the constitution of Pakistan, the Assembly has to meet within twenty-one days after the election day. The session to administer the oath to the newly-elected house members will take place after notification of the reserved seats, local media reported.
In this context, the Punjab Assembly secretariat has completed its preparation, and the final summary for the session will be forwarded within 72 hours, according to media reports.
The Assembly, which is expected to meet on February 29, will also elect a new speaker, deputy speaker, and chief minister.
After more than a dozen independent candidates joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), it has become the single-largest party for forming the government in the province.
