KARACHI: The Sindh caretaker government has officially declared September 7th as a public holiday on account of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam-e-Hussain (RA).
The Sindh Education Department decided to close private and government schools on September 7 as decided by the steering committee of the Sindh Education Department.
On September 7th, mourning processions will be conducted in various cities and towns throughout the country to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.
The Chehlum observance occurs 40 days after the Day of Ashura and commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions, who were martyred by Yazidi forces in the Battle of Karbala in 61 A.H.
