ISLAMABAD: Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been apprehended from his residence in Islamabad on Saturday evening.

A tweet from the official PTI account on Twitter declared that Shah Mahmood Qureshi had been unlawfully detained once again. The party’s social media post further stated that a significant contingent of police took Vice Chairman Qureshi into custody from his residence in the capital city.

According to sources, Qureshi’s arrest was carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as part of an ongoing investigation into cipher that PTI alleges contained a threat from the United States to remove Imran Khan from power.

Sources added that he was being transported to the headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency for further proceedings.

The arrest followed shortly after Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a press conference in which he refuted reports of internal conflicts among party leaders aiming to replace the imprisoned party chief, Imran Khan.

PTI Condemns Shah Mahmood Qureshi Arrest

PTI Secretary General Ayub Khan strongly condemned the arrest of Shah Mahmood Qureshi, stating that he condemns this action in the strongest possible terms.

He expressed his hope that the era of lawlessness would have come to an end after the departure of the Fascist PDM Government. However, it seems that the current Caretaker Government aims to surpass the records set by its predecessor, the Fascist Government.
