ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to secure ‘A-class’ jail facilities and essential rights during his incarceration.

Khan is currently under arrest in connection with the Toshanakhana criminal case. Imran Khan’s legal representative, Naeem Haider Panjutha submitted the plea, outlining a series of demands for ensuring dignified treatment and access to legal remedies.

The petition urged the court to grant the PTI chairman the privileges associated with ‘A-class’ jail facilities.

Among the key requests made in the petition are the right for the family and legal representatives to visit Imran Khan during his time in custody.

The petition maintained that meeting with lawyers and family members are fundamental rights that should be upheld without exception.

Panjutha also said that his client should be transferred to Adiyala Jail, where ‘A-class’ facilities are reportedly available. The plea further called for Chairman PTI’s doctor, Faisal Sultan to be granted permission for treatment while in custody.

The lawyer expressed his concern, stressing that any delay could potentially hinder the legal process and the pursuit of justice.
