LAHORE: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan has vowed to defeat the ‘Zardari mafia’ in Sindh, accusing the group of holding the people of the province hostage. Khan made the statement during a meeting with PTI Sindh leader Khurram Sher Zaman in Lahore, where they discussed the political situation, including the arrest of senior party leaders and workers in Sindh.

Zaman shared with Khan the progress report of the party’s MPAs in Sindh to Khan, and they also discussed the former prime minister’s expected visit to Sindh.

Khan urged the people of Sindh to prepare themselves for elections and pledged to liberate them from the ‘Zardari mafia’ with the strength of the vote.

Imran Khan reiterates demand for early elections

Khan reiterated his demand for immediate and transparent elections and claimed that the PTI would form the next government in Sindh. He also noted that the majority of rights violations had been reported in the province.

Imran Khan’s comments come as political tensions in Sindh continue to rise, with the PTI accusing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of using state institutions to target opposition leaders and workers. The PTI has also alleged that the PPP is using the Sindh Police to carry out politically motivated arrests.

The ‘Zardari mafia’ refers to the group led by Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairperson of the PPP and former president of Pakistan. The PTI has accused Zardari and his associates of widespread corruption and abuse of power.

The political situation in Sindh is likely to remain tense in the coming weeks and months as the country prepares for national and provincial elections. The PTI and the PPP are expected to compete fiercely for power in the province, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the PPP.
