ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been arrested by the Islamabad police under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Act for a period of 13 days, local media reported on Thursday. He was arrested from Gilgit Baltistan House, Islamabad.

This comes shortly after the arrest of PTI’s Secretary General Asad Umar by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) from the premises of the Islamabad High Court. Yesterday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan was also arrested by the Rangers from the premises of the same court.

PTI leaders express discontent with arrests

PTI leader Shireen Mazari expressed her discontent with Umar’s arrest on Twitter, describing the IHC premises as a “fertile ground” for the illegal arrest of PTI leaders.

She condemned the arrest, stating that it appears the IHC area has become a hotbed for the unjust detention of PTI members.

The arrests of PTI leaders have sparked further tensions and raised concerns among the party and its supporters. The situation remains fluid, and developments are being closely monitored.
