ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Tehsil Chairman Atif Munsif was among the eight people killed in a gun attack on his vehicle on Monday.
According to reports Tehsil Chairman from Havelian Atif Munsif was on his way home when unknown assailants opened fire at his vehicle in the village of Langra, resulting in his death. Four of his security guards and three other workers were also killed during the incident.
According to the Abbottabad police, the firing incident occurred in Abbottabad’s Langra area, where the vehicle of PTI Tehsil Chairman Atif Munsif was targeted.
The attackers also fired a rocket at the vehicle, which burnt the vehicle and gutted the dead bodies, confirmed District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Tufail.
Soon after the incident, the police officials rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Attack on PTI Tehsil Chairman
As soon as the incident was reported, the police reached the spot, but by that time, all the persons had died; the rescue teams broke the windows of the vehicle and took out the bodies.
A large number of local residents and Tehreek-e-Insaf workers reached the spot, and the police started a search operation in the area.
District Police Officer Abbottabad Umar Tufail has confirmed the incident and said that eight people have died in the firing, including the Chairman of Tehsil Haveliyan Atif Khan. He said that the bullets hit the fuel tank, and the car caught fire, due to which no one could escape.
The DPO said that the incident was a result of old enmity, firing by the opposition group with whom they had a dispute.
He said that Chairman Atif Khan was returning after attending the funeral where he was targeted.
