The Federal Investigation Agency’s Cybercrime Wing has arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Senator Azam Khan Swati over his controversial tweets.
FIA sources said that the cybercrime wing had registered a case against Senator Swati earlier for his controversial tweets including the one in which he had criticised Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa after the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a money laundering case.
In one of his tweets, PTI Senator Swati said: “Mr Bajwa congratulations to you and few with you . Your plan is really working and all criminals are getting free at cost of this country. With these thugs getting free, you have legitimise corruption . How you predict now the future of this country?”
It should be noted that the PTI social media brigade and its leaders continue to run smear campaigning on social media often targeting their adversaries and the army’s top brass for what they claim the removal of Imran Khan’s government through alleged conspiracy and with the support of foreign forces.
Earlier, a special central court in Lahore acquitted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son and former Punjab chief minister Hamaza Shehbaz in the Rs16 billion money laundering case.
