Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is considering options to attend the All Parties Conference (APC) on ‘national challenges’, including economy and terrorism, after being invited by the government.
According to reports, on the recommendation of former information minister Fawad Chaudhry, PTI was considering nominating Azam Swati and Sheikh Rashid as the party’s representatives for the APC. Fawad Chaudhry suggested to PTI Chairman Imran Khan that Sheikh Rashid remains as an interior minister, so he was fully aware of the security situation of the country, while Azam Khan Swati was a senior politician.
PTI leaders also criticized the incumbent government and said the political leadership was clueless about the external and internal challenges of the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an All Parties Conference of leadership across the political spectrum to discuss options to overcome the current national challenges.
The conference will be held on February 7 in Islamabad, and political leaders, including Imran khan, have been invited to attend the meeting.

PTI chief Imran Khan not to attend APC
However, PTI leader Asad Umar said Imran Khan has decided against attending the APC convened by the Prime Minister.
“How can we sit with the incumbent government when it is involved in violating the Constitution, registering sedition cases against political rivals, and arresting our people,” Asad Umar said.
The meeting was called days after the terrorist attack on a mosque at Police Pines in Peshawar.
