ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has assigned the task to carry out talks with the stakeholders to Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai via the platform of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen (TTAP) alliance, local media reported on Wednesday. The recent development comes following the PTI leadership decided to utilize the opposition alliance’s platform for holding dialogue with the stakeholders and government. Furthermore, it has been decided to give Achzakzai complete authority to lead the talks.
The News cited sources as saying that Mehmood Khan Achakzai will take more steps in this connection once the PTI finalizes its decision. The newspaper reported that the PTI’s political leadership will also be part of the negotiations.
The development comes a day following PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that the party’s incarcerated founder, Imran Khan, had given his approval for dialogue with the government and claimed that the party would initiate talks after talking to Mehmood Khan Achakzai.
Gohar said that they told the PTI founder that talks are necessary, as the distance is widening. He agreed “with us on this,” said Gohar, when speaking with media persons outside at Adiala jail.
Gohar noted that the former PM wanted the avenues of dialogue to be opened and “Imran Khan is ready to forgive what has happened to him for reconciliation.”
The recent development comes days after PTI founder decided to “step back” from his rigid position, ordering his party leaders to establish contacts both inside and outside the Parliament to ease the current political tension, a local TV reported.
