ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to obtain a copy of his principal secretary Azam Khan’s ‘cipher drama’ statement.
PTI chairman’s counsel Salman Akram Raja filed the petition in the Islamabad High Court. The petition sought a copy of Azam Khan’s ‘cipher drama’ statement for the PTI chief as he will have to reply the inquiry officer in this case.
The court was also urged to stop the officials from arresting the PTI chief or grant him bail-before-arrest.
Earlier, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA)’s Counter-terrorism Wing summoned the PTI Chairman in the cipher case.
It is pertinent to mention here that former prime minister Imran Khan’s ex-principal secretary, Azam Khan made startling revelations and claimed that the former PM used cipher for his ‘political gains’ and also to frustrate a no-confidence motion against him.
Imran Khan’s ex-principal secretary Azam Khan, who had been “missing” since last month, suddenly appeared and made startling revelations about US cipher while recording his statement under section 164 of the CrPC before a magistrate.
Reacting to Azam Khan’s statement, Imran Khan said he will not comment on the matter until the complete information comes out. He said that it is unclear yet under what circumstances Azam Khan made this statement.
However, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah asserted that the confessional statement of ex-principal secretary Azam Khan was a ‘charge sheet’ against PTI chief Imran Khan and the latter should be punished for anti-state ‘cipher drama’.
