ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has conducted multiple raids successfully against illegal internet service providers.

According to a news release, the step was taken to deal with the uncontrolled growth of unauthorized internet service providers nationwide. The equipment of illegal internet service providers was collected during two raids in Lahore, Muslim Town, and Multan Road.

In addition, an enforcement action started in Rawalpindi, which resulted in the identification and disabling of services provided by an internet service provider still operating after its license was terminated.

PTA’s success

The success of the PTA’s activities against illegal internet service providers can be attributed to the agency’s constant dedication, continual tracking, and persistent attempts to combat unlawful internet services. These actions are vital in preventing tax evasion and revenue misreporting, reducing the national exchequer’s loss.

To avoid sudden service discontinuation, the PTA advised the public only to utilize telecom services provided by PTA-licensed operators. The list of licensed operators can be accessed here: https://pta.gov.pk/en/industry-suppolicensedrt/home/list-of-operators.
