ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated the cybersecurity audit of telecom operators to ensure digital safety and security of users across the country. According to PTA sources, the authority will carefully evaluate the audit process to ensure that qualified companies with international standards fulfill all technical requirements of the cybersecurity audit.
PTA will review the final audit results to confirm that cybersecurity measures align with global standards. The audit aims to verify whether telecom operators have implemented a comprehensive cybersecurity framework. It will also scrutinize telecom operators to ensure that personal and sensitive data is secure and not at risk of leakage. Additionally, telecom operators’ staff will undergo security clearance to handle sensitive information.
Once the security audit is finalized, PTA will present its findings. It is worth noting that the National Cyber Emergency Response team has already warned of cybersecurity risks and issued advisories for government bodies, organizations, and NGOs to take necessary steps to protect their digital infrastructure.
