KARACHI: Filmmaker Zarrar Kahn is set to premiere his psychological thriller, ‘In Flames’, exclusively at Atrium in Karachi from October 20 to 31. Anam Abbas, the film’s producer, hopes that “In Flames” would usher in a new era for Pakistani cinema by highlighting Karachi and promoting an innovative and appealing storytelling style.
In Flames explores the effects of living in a strongly patriarchal society, illuminating the psychological costs of oppression and the complex dynamics of youthful love in Pakistan. The movie tries to transport viewers into the Karachi’s gritty allure providing a glimpse into the challenging decisions one must make to survive each day. The movie tells a captivating story that is centered on struggles of a mother and daughter following the untimely death of the patriarch.

Having earned acclaim at prestigious events such as the 76th Cannes Film Festival, the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, and the Busan International Film Festival, “In Flames” features a stellar cast, including Ramesha Nawal, Mohammad Ali, Bakhtawar Mazhar, Hashmi, Omar Javaid and Adnan Shah Tipu.
Written and directed by Zarrar Kahn and produced by Anam Abbas, with Shant Joshi as the executive producer, “In Flames” stands as a cinematic endeavour that not only pushes limits but also creates a new narrative space inside the cinematic landscape of Pakistan.
