PSX Witnesses Bearish Trend for Second Consecutive Day, Loses 30 Points

ISLAMABAD: The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), after losing about 700 points last day, continued its bearish trend on Tuesday while shedding 30.06 points (0.06 percent) to close at 47,417.90 against 47,447.96 points last day.

After remaining in the red zone yesterday, the trade started on a positive note on Tuesday and gained some momentum; however, in the middle of the day, the investors remained cautious, and the index shifted into the red zone.

On Tuesday, a total of 185,753,898 shares were transacted against 211,230,785 shares the previous day, whereas the price of shares stood at Rs 6.223 billion as compared to Rs 7.076 billion on Monday.

Bearish Trend at PSX

During the trading, 316 companies traded their shares in the market, 141 of them recorded gains, and 152 experienced losses, whereas the share price of 23 companies was traded without a change.

WorldCall Telecom remained the top leader among the top-three trading companies with 25,867,346 shares at Rs 1.29 per share, followed by Nishat Power with 16,043,161 shares at Rs.23.55 per share and Oil and Gas Dev with 13,626,842 shares at Rs.99.51 per share.

Bhanero Tex witnessed a maximum appreciation of Rs 49.00 per share price, closing at Rs 999.00, whereas Mari Petroleum settled as the runner-up with an increase of Rs 23.93 in its per share price to Rs 1,627.16.

Pak Tobacco witnessed a maximum decline of Rs 29.00 per share closing at Rs 693.00, followed by Excide (Pak) XD with a decrease of Rs 20.50 to settle at Rs 347.68.
