RAWALPINDI: Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday set a tough target of 208 runs for Lahore Qalandars during the 23rd fixture of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Youngster Saim Ayub and captain Babar Azam scored brilliant fifties at the top before Lahore Qalandars made a sensational comeback in the death overs to bundle out Peshawar Zalmi for 207.
Saim punched Qalandars’ bowlers with eight scintillating fours and three maximums during his impressive knock of 36-ball 68.
Earlier, Zalmi opted to bat first against Qalandars after winning the toss. Zalmi are going unchanged, while Qalandars have made one change in their playing XI.
Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have already qualified for the playoffs and are currently at the top of the table with 12 points in seven matches.
Qalandars won six games and has lost one so far. Their only loss came against Karachi Kings.
While Peshawar Zalmi are currently in the fourth spot with six points, they have won three matches and lost as many.
The Peshawar Zalmi will be looking for a win against Lahore Qalandars to strengthen their chances of going into the playoffs and make it tough for the Quetta Gladiators to end up in the last four.
