PSL 8: Multan Sultans Crush Islamabad United by 52 Runs

MULTAN: Multan Sultans on Sunday crushed Islamabad United by 52 runs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023, eight match at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Chasing a target of 191 runs, Islamabad United were all out for just 138 in 17.5 overs. The chasers who at one stage were 112-4, lost their last 6 wickets for just 26 runs.

Rassie van der Dussen was the top-scorer with 49 runs in 32 deliveries, with the help of 5 boundaries and a sixer. Pacer Abbas Afridi led the attack for Multan Sultans with figures of 4-22 in 3 overs.

Meanwhile, Usama Mir also spoiled Islamabad United’s run-chase with 2 wickets in one over, which included the bigwigs Colin Munro and Shadab Khan. Mohammad Ilyas and Ihsanullah also took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, Multan Sultans scored190-4, with the help of half centuries by David Miller and Mohammad Rizwan. Miller topped with 52 runs in 25 deliveries, laced with 3 boundaries and 4 sixers. During his sensational innings, the South African batter also smacked Islamabad’s captain Shadab Khan for 3 maximums in a row.

Meanwhile, the captain Rizwan scored 50 runs in 38 deliveries which included 5 boundries fours and a maximum. Rilee Rossouw, who scored two half centuries in the previous two matches, added 36 runs in 30 deliveries. Whereas, Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on aggressive 32 runs from 21 deliveries.

Islamabad United had won the toss and put Multan Sultans to bat first. Rumman Raees, Mohammad Wasim, Shadab and Tom Curran took one wicket each for Islamabad United.
