PSL 8: Four Teams to Contest in Two Fixtures Today

RAWALPINDI: Four teams will vie in two matches of the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) today.

Islamabad United will clash with Peshawar Zalmi in 29th fixture at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while Lahore Qalandars will lock horns with Karachi Kings in the 30th encounter at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Peshawar Zalmi are placed 4th in the points table with 8 points, having won 4 out of their 9 matches of the league. Islamabad United sit at the 3rd spot having 12 points with 6 wins and 3 losses in their 9 matches so far.

In today’s second match, an eagerly-awaited encounter by the followers of the game, the Kings, who are already out of the title race, would be ardent to exit the PSL season 8 on a winning note with a victory also against the team believed to be an old rival.

Lahore Qalandars sit at the top in PSL 2023 points table with 14 points, having won 7 out of their 9 matches in the ongoing season. Meanwhile, Karachi, who were only able to win 2 out of their 9 encounters, are placed at the bottom-most position with 4 points.

Multan Sultans battle past Quetta Gladiators

Multan Sultans Saturday battled past Quetta Gladiators by nine runs in the 28th match of PSL 2023, at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Chasing a massive target of 263 runs, highest of PSL 8, Gladiators were restricted to 253-8 in 20 overs.

Despite half centuries by Omair Yousuf and Iftikhar Ahmed, Quetta fell short of the target in their final league stage match of the tournament.

Earlier, Sultans opener Usman Khan scored the fastest hundred in PSL history in just 36 balls. Meanwhile, pacer Abbas Afridi bagged 5 wickets, including a hatrick, for Multan.
