ISLAMABAD: With Multan Sultans already eliminated from the PSL 2025 playoff race, all eyes are now on Peshawar Zalmi. Currently positioned fifth on the table with just two wins and four defeats from six matches, Babar Azam’s side faces a steep challenge in their bid to reach the playoffs.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Playoff Scenarios
With four group stage fixtures remaining, here is what Zalmi must do:
Win 3 out of 4 matches, rely on help from Karachi Kings
Zalmi need to win three of their remaining four games and hope that Karachi Kings defeat Lahore Qalandars on 4 May at Gaddafi Stadium. Following that, Zalmi themselves must overcome Lahore Qalandars on 9 May, also in Lahore—a difficult task given Qalandars’ formidable record at home.
If Lahore Qalandars beat Karachi Kings
In this scenario, Zalmi must defeat Karachi Kings on 8 May and hope Islamabad United overcomes the Kings on 10 May. Again, Zalmi must secure at least three wins from their final four games to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Winning the remaining matches
Should Zalmi triumph in all of their upcoming fixtures—against Islamabad United (2 May), Multan Sultans (5 May), Karachi Kings (8 May), and Lahore Qalandars (9 May)—they would almost certainly clinch a Top 2 finish and a place in the playoffs.
With Babar Azam at the helm, Zalmi’s chances are still alive—albeit narrowly. Every remaining match is now a must-win, and fans will be watching with keen interest to see whether the team can rise to the occasion.
