LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League has released its updated player categories for the 11th edition of the tournament, with elite stars Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan retaining their Platinum status, while several others earned promotions or shifts following recent performances ahead of the draft.
Star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have once again been placed in the Platinum category, alongside Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan, reaffirming their position among the league’s most valuable players.
The latest classifications also reflect upward mobility for several performers. Mohammad Nawaz, Salman Ali Agha, and Hassan Ali have been promoted from the Diamond category to Platinum, recognising their consistency and impact in domestic and international cricket.
Rewarding form
Meanwhile, Abbas Afridi, Osama Mir, and Iftikhar Ahmed have moved from Platinum to Diamond, as franchises adjust their strategies to balance squad composition and performance metrics ahead of the draft.
In the Gold category, new inclusions include Sahibzada Farhan, Azam Khan, and Khushdil Shah, while Khawaja Nafi and Hassan Nawaz have earned promotions from the Silver and Emerging categories respectively.
The revised player list underlines the PSL’s focus on rewarding form, encouraging competition, and creating pathways for emerging talent as the league prepares for its upcoming season.
