MULTAN, Pakistan: Yasir Khan’s explosive innings powered Multan Sultans to a commanding total of 228/5 against Lahore Qalandars in the 12th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan’s decision to bat first proved fruitful as the home side posted one of the highest totals of the tournament so far, thanks to a dominant batting display led by Yasir Khan.
Opening the innings alongside Rizwan, Yasir launched a ferocious attack on the Lahore Qalandars’ bowlers.
The duo stitched together a quickfire 89-run opening stand in just seven overs.
Rizwan played a brisk knock of 32 from 17 balls, laced with four boundaries and a six, before he was bowled around his legs by Asif Afridi on the first ball of the eighth over.
Usman Khan then joined Yasir at the crease and continued the onslaught.
The pair added 70 runs for the second wicket, further consolidating the Multan Sultans’ dominance.
Usman contributed a fluent 39 off 24 deliveries, hitting five fours and a six, before falling in the 14th over.
Yasir, who was the star of the innings, top-scored with a blistering 87 off just 44 balls, including six sixes and six boundaries.
The Multan Sultans lost two more quick wickets—Yasir in the 14th over and Ashton Turner in the 16th, who made 15—leaving them at 179/4.
However, Iftikhar Ahmed provided a late flourish with a quick 40 off 18 balls, striking four fours and two sixes, to propel the team past the 220-run mark.
For Lahore Qalandars, Rishad Hossain was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 45 in his four overs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sikandar Raza, and Asif Afridi chipped in with a wicket apiece but were unable to contain the onslaught.
