PSL 10: Karachi Kings Clinch Last-Over Thriller Against Peshawar Zalmi

KARACHI, Pakistan: Karachi Kings pulled off a dramatic two-wicket win over Peshawar Zalmi in the 11th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10, sealing the contest in the final over to cap off their home leg with a thrilling victory at the National Bank Stadium on Monday.

Chasing a modest target of 148, the Karachi Kings stumbled early against a fiery new-ball spell from Peshawar Zalmi pacer Luke Wood.

However, Australian veteran David Warner anchored the innings with a crucial half-century, scoring 60 runs to keep the hosts in the hunt.

Khushdil Shah then played a vital supporting role, steadying the innings with a composed 23 before guiding the chase into the final over.

With nine runs needed off six balls, Khushdil struck a crucial boundary off the first delivery, and Hasan Ali finished the job with a pulled four, sparking celebrations among the Karachi crowd.

Earlier, Peshawar Zalmi were put in to bat first after Karachi Kings won the toss.

Peshawar Zalmi lost opener Saim Ayub early for four, dismissed by Mir Hamza.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore also departed cheaply, managing just seven runs before falling with the score at 36/2 in 6.5 overs.

Captain Babar Azam held the innings together with a patient 46 off 41 balls and added a 31-run stand with Mohammad Haris, who contributed 18.

After Babar’s departure, Peshawar Zalmi’s middle order struggled to accelerate. Hussain Talat managed 18, while Mitchell Owen was dismissed for five by Khushdil Shah.

Alzarri Joseph provided a late boost with an unbeaten 24 off 13 balls, helping Peshawar Zalmi finish on 147/8 from their 20 overs.

For Karachi Kings, Khushdil Shah and Abbas Afridi were the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets each.

Mir Hamza and Aamer Jamal chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Both teams fielded unchanged XIs from their previous outings.
