ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United delivered a commanding performance to defeat Multan Sultans by seven wickets, comfortably chasing down a 169-run target in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 on Wednesday.
Andries Gous pulls a short ball from Ubaid Shah over cow corner to wrap up the chase in emphatic fashion. Islamabad United cruised to victory with 17 balls to spare.
Ubaid Shah’s return saw Gous continue to find the gaps, including a thick edge that flew to third man for four. Nawaz, still building his innings, nudged a single to long-on, and Gous added a couple more with a neatly placed shot.
Usama Mir returned to the attack and delivered a tidy over, conceding just eight runs. Nawaz found some rhythm with a well-timed boundary to backward square, while Gous kept the scoreboard moving by rotating the strike.
Andries Gous then stepped up and continued to impress, reaching his maiden half-century of the season in style with a commanding pull over cow corner for six.

Breaking partnership
It was a gutsy innings under pressure and a strong endorsement of United’s decision to back him despite a slow start to the campaign.
A key moment arrived when Michael Bracewell broke the partnership, dismissing the in-form Munro for a brisk 45 off 28 balls.
Munro, looking to slog sweep, mistimed his shot and was caught by Iftikhar near long-on after an innings that included five boundaries and two sixes.
The pair brought up Islamabad’s 100 with ease, with Munro showcasing his class with a beautifully timed shot over extra cover against Iftikhar Ahmed’s tight lines.
Munro continued his onslaught, launching a monstrous 92-metre slog sweep off Usama Mir over deep mid-wicket, while he and Andries Gous rotated the strike smartly to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Munro’s attack
Islamabad finished the powerplay on a high, as Colin Munro took the attack to Chris Jordan, smashing a six and a four in a 12-run over.
He picked up a slower delivery off his pads for a massive six over mid-wicket and then drove crisply past mid-off.
However, Ubaid Shah provided a key breakthrough for Multan, removing the dangerous Farhan, who had looked set for a big score.
Farhan continued his aggressive approach in the second over, taking on Michael Bracewell with authority.

He smashed 16 runs, beginning with a powerful cut shot and following it up with a towering pullover deep mid-wicket.
Islamabad United began their chase with a composed and stylish opening, collecting 11 runs from the first over.
Sahibzada Farhan looked in fine touch, punching a boundary through the off-side and rotating the strike effectively.
