LAHORE, Pakistan: Hasan Nawaz’s explosive innings powered Quetta Gladiators to an imposing total of 201-9 in their allotted 20 overs against Lahore Qalandars in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Quetta Gladiators were dealt an early blow as skipper Saud Shakeel was dismissed by Lahore Qalandars’ captain and left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi for just four runs off six balls, leaving the Gladiators at 17-1 in 2.4 overs.
Their woes deepened in the following over when Finn Allen fell to Salman Mirza for 12 off 11 deliveries, placing Quetta under early pressure.
A 38-run stand between Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz helped stabilise the innings. Rossouw looked threatening but was removed by Sikandar Raza, who struck immediately, dismissing him for a quick 22 off 11 balls. Quetta were 58-3 in 6.2 overs at that point.

Hasan Nawaz, in superb touch, went on to register his third half-century of the season. He forged a vital 67-run partnership with Avishka Fernando, shifting the momentum back in Quetta’s favour.
Fernando contributed 29 off 22 balls before being dismissed by Rishad Hossain, who claimed his maiden wicket, with the score at 125-4 in 12.5 overs.
Crucial partnership
Dinesh Chandimal then joined Nawaz and played a valuable supporting role, hitting two sixes off Sikandar Raza in the 17th over, taking the score to 170-4.
Shaheen Afridi returned to halt their progress, removing Chandimal for a lively 22 off 13 balls. Just two deliveries later, he dismissed the well-set Hasan Nawaz, who played a superb knock of 76 off 43 balls, reducing Quetta to 172-6 in 17.5 overs.
This is the end for Hassan Nawaz.

Haris Rauf caused further damage in the 19th over by dismissing Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed for ducks, denting Quetta’s hopes of a strong finish.
However, Faheem Ashraf played a crucial cameo in the final over, blasting 28 runs off just eight balls — including several boundaries — to take Quetta past the 200 mark. He was dismissed on the last delivery of the innings.
For the Qalandars, Shaheen Afridi led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Salman Mirza and Haris Rauf took two each. Sikandar Raza and Rishad Hossain chipped in with a wicket apiece.
