ISLAMABAD: Fakhar Zaman starred with a composed knock of 67 as Lahore Qalandars secured a commanding 79-run victory over Quetta Gladiators, earning him the Player of the Match award.
The Qalandars’ opening batter made history on Sunday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium by equalling Mohammad Rizwan’s record for the most half-centuries in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, according to Cricket Pakistan.
His innings against Quetta marked his 20th PSL fifty, making him only the third player to achieve this milestone.
With this feat, Fakhar now shares second place on the all-time list of most half-centuries in the league alongside Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan.
The current record holder is Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam, who leads the way with a remarkable 33 fifties—he remains the only player in PSL history to have crossed the 30-fifty mark.
Most Half-Centuries in PSL History:
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi) – 33 fifties
Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans) – 20 fifties
Fakhar Zaman (Lahore Qalandars) – 20 fifties
Shoaib Malik (Quetta Gladiators) – 15 fifties
Colin Munro (Karachi Kings) – 13 fifties
Thanks to Fakhar’s quick 67 from 39 deliveries, Lahore Qalandars posted a formidable total of 219, which proved well beyond the reach of Quetta Gladiators.
The Qalandars went on to win by a hefty margin of 79 runs, with Fakhar’s performance rightly earning him the Player of the Match award.
