ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) is all set to host the 31st Asian Junior Individual Championship (AJIC-24) in Islamabad between 25 – 29 June.
The senior officials of the PSF at a press briefing here on Monday announced that the rights to host the event were granted by the Asian Squash Federation (ASF).
PSF is conducting the AJIC-24 event in collaboration with a private hotel chain. The championship will feature Boys and Girls U-13, 15, 17 and U-19 age categories.
A group of 12 countries including Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore and Sri Lanka have already confirmed their participation in the event.
According to the PSF officials, the event has attracted a healthy participation of 107 male players, 84 female players, 36 officials and 44 parents from all over Asia.
Pakistani Players
PSF will enter the championship with 24 male and 19 female players in various age groups. These players have undergone well-planned training and it is expected that they would give some outstanding performance during the championship.
Technical Delegates and Panel of Referees
Al-Ardy Ally has been nominated as an ASF Technical Delegate for AJIC-24. The WSF International Referee Tahir Khanzada will be the championship referee for the event and will have a panel of 23 referees to conduct matches at both venues.
The PSF has made extensive arrangements for the championship, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants.
Pakistan has a sound history of participation in the Asian Junior Individual Championship. The 1st Asian Junior Individual was held in Singapore in 1983 in which Umar Hayat from Pakistan won Gold and Ahmed Gul from Pakistan won Silver Medal.
