ISTANBUL, Turkey: A tragic propane tank explosion at a restaurant in Izmir, western Turkey, resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left 63 others injured. Security cameras captured the powerful blast, which caused significant devastation to the street and minor damage to nearby buildings.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya swiftly deployed rescue teams to the scene, where Izmir Governor Suleyman Elban later visited the hospitalized victims. Fortunately, 40 of the injured have already been discharged.
Authorities have detained a suspect believed to have replaced the propane tank the day before the incident, suggesting a potential link to the explosion.
