NEW DELHI: In a prelude to India’s Republic Day on January 26, pro-Khalistan graffiti has emerged in New Delhi, sparking concerns and prompting an investigation by local authorities. The graffiti, featuring the slogan “SFJ, January 26, Khalistan,” was discovered on a pillar in the secluded Nihal Vihar area of west Delhi.
Local police have reported that the pro-Khalistan message was painted on the pillar by an unidentified individual, suspected to have carried out the act during the night. The remote location of the graffiti raises questions about the motive and timing of the message.
A senior police officer confirmed the discovery, emphasizing the seclusion of the area, making it an unusual site for such an incident. The police were alerted to the graffiti through a video and subsequently registered a case in the matter on Tuesday.

The appearance of such graffiti ahead of Republic Day has raised security concerns, leading law enforcement to take swift action to trace and address the incident.
As tensions often run high around significant national events, the presence of pro-Khalistan slogans adds a layer of complexity to the security landscape. The investigation aims to ascertain the motives behind the graffiti and prevent any potential disruptions during the Republic Day celebrations.
