ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the coalition parties’ on Wednesday to hold discussions over the current political situation in the country, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to sources and media reports, the meeting will mull over the current political situation and the matters related to holding polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
Prime Minister to hold consultation with political parties leaders
The meeting will also contemplate over the issues that surfaced during the consultative process among the political parties in the country. The coalition group will also discuss the general election and the consultative process with different political parties.
Some sources suggest that the meeting of the coalition partners will also be given a detail briefing on the current economic situation and discussions with the International Monetary Fund over the bailout package. Parliamentary leaders of the coalition parties will attend the meeting.
A private channel reported, “Detailed discussions are expected in the meeting over the current political situation”. It reported that the Prime Minister will also consult with the coalition partners over dialogue with the PTI.
Earlier, JI head Siraj Ul Haq claimed that political contacts will expedite after the Eid. The JI Emir added that both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan had realized that the situation is not positive, saying that his party has one-point agenda — polls should be held across Pakistan. Siraj said that they want everyone to agree on the election’s date.
