ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings to Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Day, highlighting the longstanding ties of faith, history, and brotherhood between the two nations.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif praised Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their leadership, and expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown to him and the Pakistani delegation during his recent historic visit to Riyadh. “The welcome we received was heartfelt and deeply moving,” he said, noting that the visit fostered “unforgettable and exemplary moments of friendship.”

On 17 September 2025 Islamabad and Riyadh signed a “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement” declaring that “any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both” — a bilateral pledge whose timing and implications reverberate across the Middle East and South Asia

“The relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is founded on Islam, shared history, brotherhood, and mutual trust, and it will remain strong and enduring,” the Prime Minister said and affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening this partnership. He lauded Saudi Arabia’s development trajectory under the Crown Prince’s visionary leadership, noting the Kingdom’s growing stature on the global stage as a reflection of its progress and foresight.

Shehbaz Sharif also recalled Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Pakistan during the heightened tensions with India in May 2025, and acknowledged the Kingdom’s economic support, which contributed to stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.

Highlighting the contributions of millions of Pakistani expatriates in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister praised their role in the Kingdom’s development, calling them a bridge of goodwill and cooperation between the two countries.
