Justin Trudeau wrote on his Twitter handle, ” Canadians strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack in Peshawar, Pakistan on worshipers. My thoughts are with the deceased and those grieving during this terribly difficult time.”

Ealier, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned Monday’s suicide bombing at the Peshawar mosque.

Freedom of belief or religion, including the ability to worship in security and peace, is a universal basic human right,” his Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement at its Headquarters in New York.

“The statement said, “The secretary-general extends his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wishes an early recovery to those injured,” the statement said.

The statement said that “the secretary-general reiterates the solidarity of the United Nations with the government and the people of Pakistan in their efforts to counter violent extremism and terrorism.”

Responding to a question about the increasing number of attacks across Pakistan for which the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, based in Afghanistan, has claimed responsibility, the spokesman said that “every government or every authority that has control over (its) territory has a responsibility towards the international community to make sure that their territory is not being used for terrorist activities.”
