Presidential Election: Achakzai, Zardari Submit Nomination Papers

ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari and leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Saturday, filed their nomination papers for the presidential the slot of the president of Pakistan. PML-N said that they will also support Asif Zardari in the election. However, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has announced its support for Pakhtunkhwa Milii Awami Party leader, as the presidential candidate, local media reported.
As per media report, PTI founder has endorsed Achakzai as the nominee for the coveted presidential position. Some reports suggest that Achakzai is set to submit his nomination papers for the office of the president of the South Asian country.

Earlier, PTI victorious candidates, who were banned from using electoral symbol ‘bat’ and contesting under the PTI banner on February 8 polls in Pakistan, have now joined SIC and are set to nominate their candidate, Achakzai following aligning with SIC.

SIC Likely to Nominate Achakzai for Coveted Presidential Slot

After the submission phase, the scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled to hold on March 4, ensuring a thorough examination of each candidate’s eligibility as well as credentials for the office of Pakistan’s President.
On March 5, candidates successfully nominated will be able to retrieve their nomination papers, and the Election Commission of Pakistan will simultaneously release the list of contesters vying for the coveted presidential post.
The presidential election will be held on March 9 at the Parliament House and the four provincial assemblies of Pakistan.
