ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Zardari has emphasised the importance of economic diplomacy and instructed Ambassador-designate to Washington to make economic ties between Pakistan and the United States stronger.
President Asif Zardari was talking to Pakistan Ambassador-designate to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr the other day.
President Asif Zardari said there is huge potential for Pakistan to enhance its exports to United States markets by adopting a strategic trade policy.
He directed the ambassador-designate to the United States to engage the Pakistani diaspora in furthering Pakistan’s economic objectives and to reach out to policy makers in Washington.
During the meeting, ambassador-designate Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also shared his strategy on how to improve the relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
Earlier Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and got instruments from him on his new assignment.
The prime minister emphasised the improvement of economic diplomacy.
Ambassador-designate Rizwan Saeed Sheikh thanked both the president and the prime minister and assured he would come to the expectations of the confidence of leadership in further improving Pakistan’s ties with Washington.
